Jason Knuckles & University of Louisville Jazz visits BHS
Jason Knuckles and the University of Louisville Jazz program spent three days working with musicians at Batesville High School and teaching Jazz History through performances and lectures. The musicians worked in private lessons and ensemble rehearsals which helped our students significantly in their Jazz performances and individual performance.
Jason Knuckles spent 22 years in the United States Marine Corps Bands as a Saxophone player and led the All-Star Marine Jazz program for 12 of those years performing all over the world. He has performed with legendary Jazz musicians Ellis Marselis, and the Count Basie Orchestra, among others, and has been a featured clinician and solo artist at music conferences across the United States. Recently, he was the featured soloist with the University of Louisville Jazz Ensemble and Orchestra. He will be working on his Master's Degree in Jazz Performance at the world-renowned Jazz program at Queen's College. He will be working with Grammy Award-winning recording artists Chick Corea.
