On Saturday, March 27 Oldenburg Academy drama department hosted alum Sophie Wesseler for a choreography session. Wesseler has over 12 years of dancing and choreography experience. Three performing artists from joined each class virtually for 45 minute workshops during the 5 day week. Each grade level had a different theme/unit of focus for the week. On Thursday, March 25, Oldenburg Academy hosted astronomer Dean Regas from the Cincinnati Observatory for a talk which focused about what we have learned about stars, planets, and space. Dean Regas started his talk about talking about all of the opportunities available to scientists and previewing his work, which includes television, podcasts, and work at the Cincinnati Observatory. Murals by BMS students now on display on Main Street & BMS hallways
Artwork by students of the Batesville Community School Corporation were installed on Main Street in Batesville through the collaborative effort of the Batesville Community Education Foundation and two of its corporate sponsors. Ancient Greek Olympics at BMS
BMS Students are learning about Ancient Greece culture and historical events. All 6 th grade students participated in our Ancient Greek Olympic games during social studies class. The murals were hung in the 6 th grade hallway to help students visual the unique characteristics of Ancient Greek art and architecture. Steam Engine Ice Cream at Oldenburg Academy
In conjunction with their interdisciplinary unit on the Industrial Revolution, all 10th grade students received a demonstration of how the steam engine works, courtesy of Shrank Farms. The Shranks explained how they modified the engine into an ice cream machine, and then the sophomores watched how the engine made ice cream. All students across the school were able to watch the ice cream be made and have a sample.


Jan Deihl visits OA Music Students
Mr. Diehl came to Oldenburg Academy to help the students learn the art of improvisation. The orchestra and instrumental students (25 students) had been prepared for the workshop by learning the Bb Blues Scale and learning jazz rhythms. Ion Jones visits Oldenburg Academy
Ion Jones presented students with a chemistry-based art experience. Students learned about ultraviolet light and how to pull apart colors. Students learned how inventions changed our ability to make materials, such as teslin paper for maps and drawing. Students used black lights to see the difference in colors once exposed to the light.
