

Playhouse in the Park "Green Eggs and Ham" workshop for Kindergarten at BPS
Two teaching artists from Playhouse in the Park led workshops for each of our kindergarten classes for 45 minutes each day during the five day school week. They read aloud and performed scenes from the Dr. Seuss book, "Green Eggs and Ham". This program was part of a bundle we purchased for grades K-2, but the first and second grade workshops are not scheduled to happen until April 18-21, 2022. Both teachers and students really seemed to enjoy this workshop!


Lester Laminack visits BPS!
Children’s book author Lester Laminack visited Batesville Primary School and entertained students by animatedly reading aloud several of his books. He also met with students, signed books, and took pictures with those students who brought books for him to sign.


Lester Laminack visits BIS!
Children’s book author Lester Laminack visited Batesville Intermediate School on March 8th and 9th. He shared his experience as an author with students in grades 3-5. Students were able to hear how Mr. Laminack starts with a simple idea (often a memory or experience) and creates a wonderful story. Iditarod musher, Karen Land visits BIS!
Iditarod musher, Karen Land came to Batesville Intermediate School to share her experience mushing in the world’s longest dog-sled race. Students learned about the history or the race, how to prepare for the race and why it is so important. Ms. Land brought all her race gear and helped some students dress up like they were going to be racing. She also brought along 2 furry friends, Noggin and Chloe to help share her story.
