Ancient Greek Olympics at BMS

BMS Students are learning about Ancient Greece culture and historical events. All 6 th grade students participated in our Ancient Greek Olympic games during social studies class. The murals were hung in the 6 th grade hallway to help students visual the unique characteristics of Ancient Greek art and architecture. The student’s reaction to the murals was inspiring and only positive responses were given.

Students were assigned a Greek city-state and competed in different Olympic events that demonstrated the strength, culture, and beliefs of our Ancient Greeks. Each city-state created a flag that represented their city-state and a pledge that recited who they were and what they believed to be true.

At the conclusion of the Olympic games, each city-state stood in front of the murals to get a group photo. A student mentioned that they felt like they were back in time in Ancient Greece.
