Karen Land, writer and musher

Following a unit of study on the Iditarod, writer and musher Karen Land shared her experiences in raising and racing sled dogs with BIS third graders on April 1. Along with her Alaskan husky Romano, she brought her sled and some of her gear. The amount of clothing mushers need for -50°F is amazing! Students and staff alike enjoyed her stories about her Iditarod adventures. One lucky fourth grader who happened to be doing a research project on husky dogs was able to interview Karen and was invited to sit in on a presentation.
