Artwork by students of the Batesville Community School Corporation were installed on
Main Street in Batesville through the collaborative effort of the Batesville Community
Education Foundation and two of its corporate sponsors. BCEF board member Jama
Linkel-Cleghorn is the project coordinator. Dubbed “Art on Main,” the new program
featured artwork from students from all four BCSC schools over the course of a year.
Art teachers had the latitude to determine whether the art project for that school will be
a group effort or will be selected from individual entries. This school year’s theme,
chosen by BCEF board members, is “Bulldogs for Life.”
BMS participated in Mrs. DiMuzio’s Art classes in both 6th and 7th grades. The students
learned Lettering, colored pencil blending and Graphic Design. With these skills they
created their own designs within the project parameters. The staff of BMS then picked
which one they wanted to represent BMS for the downtown mural. The top 6 student works
represented in MURALS installed in the new BMS wing. With the BULLDOG theme the student
works brighten the long white halls. The Murals are said to last 10yrs inside so this is a
wonderful option for us and it is removable!
