On April 29 – 30, Emily Kelley, a 2011 BHS graduate, and current lead fondant decorator, at a large bakery in Morristown, New Jersey, shared her talents and expertise with my Family and Consumer Science classes. Emily taught FACS classes the basics of decorating a two-layer cake, using buttercream icing. She showed students basic decorating techniques such as making rosettes, borders, swiss dots, and lettering. Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park visited BPS on May 1, 2019, to perform a theatrical story of Five Little Monkeys. All BPS students were able to attend a session and see these characters come to life. Additionally, each BPS classroom was involved in interactive pre and/or post-show workshops with teaching artists. These workshops were held in individual classrooms and students were able to interact with the themes and characters from the play.

Oldenburg Academy hosted an exhibit from the Holocaust and Humanity Center in Cincinnati titled "The Notes Rose up in Flames: Music and the Holocaust" for one week in early April (April 8th-12th).
Sophomore students had studied the Holocaust in both English and World History, and music and German students were also invited to explore the exhibit during class. In the end, all OA students were able to observe the exhibit and have class conversations on what they found.

On Friday, May 3rd, Oldenburg Academy's Advanced Fine Arts class hosted Neusole Glassworks on campus. Students in that class were able to make flowers side-by-side with the glass artists from Neusole. Making glass flowers has kind of become a tradition at OA, and this year, they were able to bring them to campus!

On Thursday, May 2, Oldenburg Academy hosted astronomer Dean Regas from the Cincinnati Observatory for a talk titled "Archeoastronomy: Ancient Paths of the Sun, Moon, and Stars," which focused about what ancient artists knew about the stars and how we can learn about their knowledge though art.

On Monday, April 29, the Oldenburg Academy Singers worked with Professor Steve Rickard. Rickard discussed the importance of breathing techniques and the fundamentals of singing. Rickard also impressed students by showing his own vocal range.
